There Was Something in the Air That Night. . .

The stars weren't right for-me-o...
They were shining with uncertainty...
An air of impending calamity-o...

Ooooooh!

IF I HAD TO DO THE SAME AGAIN
I WOULD MY FRIEND, AND DID-O!

Well...my party was a gong show. Haha...I had to have it TWICE. The first game I got didn't work! A huge thank you to CrowdTap and their support staff for assisting me in procuring a working copy of the game at quite literally the very last possible moment! My goodness!!

But the hilarity wasn't hardly over there. My guests started cancelling right and left at the last SECOND. First it was sick kids, which, you know, what're you gonna do? Then it was work crises. Then it was a case of the flu. And a no-show. AND THEN, the four people who did show up were so spread apart it was as though the party started about three and a half hours after it was really supposed to.

In the meantime, while Rikki, my sister and I were waiting, we put the working copy of the game in, aaaaaaand the Wii stopped working altogether. (Turned out to just be the power cable.) I mean. REALLY?! So eventually Julie, Monica and Jess showed up and we had an ABBA karaoke, hang out, enjoy a few drinks and some girl talk party. I explained to them all of the trials and tribulations of the evening, over which we shared many laughs, and we decided that on the THIRTIETH I would try this again!

So here we are, FOUR THIRTY A.M. on New Year's EVE, and I'm writing up this blog post/my report and am just exhausted, haha...but the party was truly a success this second go'round. I know, I know...I'm a bit of a renegade! I know it wasn't within the parameters! It was to fall between a certain time frame! And I tried! With VALIANT EFFORT! But the fates just would not allow!

So today after work seven ladies converged upon my home along with my sister and I for seven hours and we danced, ate, drank and partied the evening away...ALL, I am pleased to say, WITHOUT INCIDENT.

We enjoyed many a beverage from this delicious drink menu my sister and I created, using 70's slang and the contents of our bar as inspiration. The TKO being the only drink that was pre-existing:

They're really, really delicious if you guys want to try them! The Coposhi-Tini was a BIG hit, also the MUNGA Melon Sour. (It's a dream of mine and my sister's to open a club!)

The dancing was a blast and HILARIOUS haha...SO HARD. Am I the only one who found it almost freakin' impossible to keep up with? haha...oooh my gosh. And I have rhythm, ok. So it's not that. I needed a training mode, like they have in Guitar Hero. Seriously! I am going to attache a photo of one of the scores. Player 1 is my friend who also owns a Just Dance game, so she's already kind of familiar with this sort of thing, and Player 2 is me.

But it's still fun, and half the fun IS laughing at one another. It'd definitely be more fun with FOUR controllers. And because I only have two, we actually stopped even playing with them at all, and just kinda danced as a group with the screen, whoever wanted to in the moment. Hehe, sometimes drink in hand ;) Sometimes feather boa on head...

I gave the T-Shirt to my friend who just wanted it, to be quite honest :) And the CD to the BIGGEST ABBA FAN. I mean, she proved she could sing just about every single ABBA song that ever was. (It was kind of like playing that game, "Don't forget the lyrics.")

Speaking of, that is another thing we did a lot of, singing! It is pretty much impossible to NOT sing when you're listening to ABBA. It was probably major discord, but that's the beauty of living ten miles out of town! No one can complain and our neighbors are ten acres away!

Two of my friends left really wanting to buy the game, that much I know for sure, and another can't wait to get the Black Eyed Peas Experience, which totally does look like a lot of fun from what I've seen in commercials and online! :)

Thank you SO much Crowdtap and Ubisoft! This was a BLAST!

Deux Mille Onze, Bienvenue

Well, the year end post. And the first post that will appear on here for the time being. Perhaps the only one, we'll see. I don't know.

2010 was a rough year for me in terms of my health (just too much for one year). And work (exhausting and thankless).

Probably in large part mostly my own fault.

To 2010 I say, good mother fucking riddance. And I really do feel that strongly about it.

I want 2011 to be better. I don't really believe in sitting by and expecting the world to just hand you shit for free and without effort, and I don't really know what to do to make it a better year. So...I guess I'm just hoping the what and the how will dawn on me as the days pass.
